10 things you can do to stop climate change

Here are 10 things you can do to help stop climate change:

Save energy by turning off the lights. You should also unplug electronics when they are not in use. Also buy energy efficient light bulbs.

Don't drive cars that use gas, get an electric car or walk and bike. You will also save money if you walk or bike. Try to take a train or bus rather than flying or driving. Trains and buses hold a lot more people than planes or cars. Do this so we don't have a lot of cars on the road and planes in the air.

Properly isolate your home so heat doesn't escape. In winter set your heaters so the don't give out too much heat. In summer use fans to circulate air instead of air conditioning.

Conserve water, take short showers and fix any leaks in your home. Turn off the water when you are brushing teeth and while shaving.

Wash clothing in cold water and hang dry it outside. It will also reduce the energy bill and reduce fabric getting weaker.

When replacing appliances buy the high efficiency ones because they don't use too much electricity. Buy appliances with the energy star. That means they use less energy and you save money.

Research where your power is coming from and if it isn't already coming from wind or solar, change it to one of those.

Why climate change is important to Kai

Climate change is important to me (Kai) because it could affect my life quality in the future. In my original home in Vancouver I've noticed changes in the climate, on our local mountains. The skiing seasons are shortened because it is not cold enough on the mountains to get a lot of snow. In 2010 the winter Olympics was held in Vancouver on Cypress mountain and the climate change was so bad they had to bring in truck loads of snow for the Olympics. Last summer (2015) there were droughts in Vancouver and big forest fires in the Okanagan. It would be sad for me if all the green space in the Okanagan were to disappear because every year my family would go there every year in the summer. I wouldn't stand not being able to ski because that's the highlight of each winter.

A Little Introduction

Our names are Kai and Löve. We are 7th grade students from ISSR, International School of the Stockholm Region. We are making a blog about climate change as we are concerned about it. This blog will include pictures of climate change and articles.  For those of you that do not know what climate change is then continue reading.

Climate change is when green house gases get trapped inside the atmosphere. This will cause the atmosphere to heat up and melt ice. Climate change also results in rising sea level. Climate change can affect the life quality of humans and can destroy animal habitats. As kids we want our future to be nice, with a healthy planet that has high biodiversity.
